Meet Ellie

I’m a part-time law student, part-time nonprofit marketing specialist, and freelance travel writer. How do those things make sense together?! Ultimately, my focus is to advocate for more ethical and sustainable global development and international travel. I value integrity for those in vulnerable situations, support for local businesses, and human-centered design.

I hold a B.A. in Foreign Language and Communication Media (a.k.a Journalism & French) from American University, which I’ve used in multiple writing and marketing roles:

  • I support the nonprofit News Literacy Project’s educator engagement plan, email campaigns, social media management, and ad optimization.
  • I developed communications strategy for a small therapy practice.
  • I worked as a reporter for my hometown newspaper, The Carlisle Sentinel.
  • I covered the 2023 Online News Association conference in Philadelphia with the Student Newsroom.
  • I earned a spot a mentorship press trip with Visit Greater Palm Springs to learn the ropes of travel writing.
  • And in 2022, I completed a very character-building French program in Grenoble, where I earned a B2 language certification (upper intermediate).

I love the challenge of understanding how human trends change and developing new strategies to reach the most people. Internally, I’m committed to streamlining workflows through tight organization and a willingness to play a part in any task where hands are needed.
